Outreach & activism

Hayley has created, organised and supported projects and websites that have a skeptical, rational, educational theme to them. The best known of these would be Project Barnum, which aids education outreach about psychic fraud and trickery. Hayley has also volunteered, supported and spoken internationally at a variety of events too…

Project Barnum

Project Barnum was launched by Hayley to help people raise awareness of psychic trickery, & how it is done. The site provides a resource about the tricks used, what you can do if you think you’ve been tricked, and materials you can use for outreach purposes.

An interview with Hayley about Project Barnum was conducted for The Committee for Skeptical Inquiry by Kylie Sturgess. It can be read here.

If you have any questions about Project Barnum contact Hayley at hayley@projectbarnum.co.uk or you can visit the website  here.

Public Speaking

Hayley has spoken internationally at various events since 2009, offering insight into her short time spent as a rational researcher (and blogger) into spontaneous phenomena and the monsters hiding under the bed. She has spoken at ‘skeptics in the pub’ events across England, Scotland and Wales and has also spoken at numerous conferences too.

More can be discovered about future and past events via the Media page.

She Talks Register

In 2011 Hayley created the ‘She Talks!’ register for women involved in science, business, media, education, law, education and more who are willing to talk at public events. Hayley created the register after becoming fed up with conference organisers telling her she was the only female speaker in the line up because they ‘couldn’t find any other female speakers’.

To date, the register has been used numerous times by event organisers, and continues to grow as more and more women sign up. To visit the register click here. Those wishing to register can do so through the ‘She Talks!’ site.

SheThought

Hayley is a contributor to the multi-authored ‘SheThought’ site, the site aims to discuss, promote, encourage, and celebrate women in science, skepticism, and critical thinking.
