I’m feeling rather frustrated and annoyed and it’s all because of an advert I just saw on LivingTV. It was for a program called ‘Paranormal Investigation: Live’ in which, the trailer says, two paranormal research teams – “one using spiritual methods & one science” will investigate one of England’s most haunted locations to see “what proof they can uncover” on “the most haunted night of the year”. Paranormal television

For nearly as long as I can remember there have been television shows where people go to a haunted location with a night vision camcorder or two, turn off the lights and get scared and then call it a paranormal investigation. Bit of a misrepresentation, but there we go…

These shows have always been very entertaining even though some people think they are exactly what a paranormal investigation should be like. Many paranormal research teams are modelled from shows such as ‘Most haunted’ or ‘Ghost hunters’ which is a shame because such shows aren’t always as straight forwards as they may seem. How not to be a ghost hunter

Recently The Sun newspaper ran a piece called ‘A Ghost Hunters Guide’

It touched upon the fact that “wanna-be” ghost hunters can pay to go on a course with Ciaran O’Keefe and Steve Parsons that will teach them how to investigate the paranormal.
